Tavas
One of those dishes which reward little effort. In a large roasting tin, mix together, cubed beef or lamb, sliced onions, chopped garlic, peeled and thickly sliced potatoes, a good splash of olive oil, chopped tomatoes or an organic tin, big pinch ground cinnamon, tsp dried mint or chopped fresh mint, hot water to make it all a bit wet, and seasonings including a good squeeze of lemon juice if you like it. Cover tightly with foil or use a shallow lidded casserole, and cook at Gas 6/200C for two hours without stirring. Serve wth lots of green leaves, or shredded cabbage, stir fried and finished with lemon juice, salt and pepper.
